The garage behind the white board
We are one unit on Ellis Grove, off Chilwell Road in Beeston. Not a chain, not a franchise, not a booking platform that sends your car somewhere else. You ring the garage, and the person who answers is the person who will have the car in the air.
You are dealing with Julian
Julian answers the phone, does the work, and writes back to the reviews under his own name. The oldest one a customer can still read is from 2017, and he is replying to them this year, which means the person you speak to about your car is the same person who will remember it next time you ring.
There is no service desk in between, so nothing gets lost in the retelling: you describe the noise to the man who will be under the car listening for it. The cost of that is the diary. One review ends "Book your car in early!" and it is worth taking literally.
What the board outside says
The signboard bolted to the fence at Ellis Grove has been making the same four claims to the street for years: all types of repairs to all types of cars and vans, petrol and diesel; Crypton tuning and engine management diagnostics; and all types of MOT work. That board is the closest thing this garage has to a brochure, and it is still the best summary of the work.
Reviews going back to 2017
The oldest review anybody can still read on the Google profile was written in 2017, and the newest one is from this year. In between there are people describing suspension work that was still holding up two years later, and MOTs and services booked together. That span is the useful part: a garage that has been getting the same reaction for nine years is a different proposition from one with a good month behind it.
Ring the garage
You get the mechanic rather than a call centre. Have the registration to hand before you dial.
